VIRTUAL C-NEO
Huge advantages for the smallest of patients.

In the NICU, performing complex interventional line procedures, such as placing peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs), umbilical vein catheters (UVC) or completing needle aspirations, presents unique challenges. Proper, expedited line placements are difficult and time consuming to accomplish with current radiographic imaging systems, where X-ray exposures are typically taken to verify line location. An estimated 15% to 39% of neonatal catheters inserted with this method involve complications which can lead to vessel trauma, infection, thrombosis, and mortality.

PortaVision’s Virtual C-NEO, a compact, lightweight, mobile radiographic and fluoroscopic system designed specifically for neonatal application, meets the unmet needs of neonatal clinicians when performing live saving line or catheter placements in the NICU by providing fluoroscopic imaging abilities while the neonate remains in the incubator. The system includes an innovative X-ray source to detector alignment system, a digital imaging system consisting of a radiographic and dynamic portable flat panel detector & operator workstation software optimized for pediatric patients. The workstation software ensures the X-ray source administers the lowest possible X-ray dose, considering the patient’s weight and the body part under examination, and displays calculated patient radiation skin dose prior to X-ray exposure.
